35 Signs You Will Be Friends For Life

1. Everyone in your life knows her name, as if she was your significant other.

To be honest, she is pretty significant.

2. Friends have called you looking for her.

They aren’t wrong. Chances are, you know where she is, or you are sitting next to her while she screens their call.

3. She has seen you at your worst, but is willing to never speak of it again – for your sake.

There is not a single person on the planet with more embarrassing ammunition against you. But she would never use it – because, mutually assured destruction is a thing. Also, love.

4. You have helped each other clean your homes.

Nothing says I love you like scrubbing your bestie’s toilet.

5. You’ve seen each other naked.

This is simply a matter of practicality. With the sheer numbers of hours you spend together – getting ready, changing outfits, working out – it would be impossible not to. Also, pants are for suckers.

6. You’ve asked her “does this rash look weird” and she helped you WebMD yourself back to health.

Sure, when Bestie-Online-Faux-MD is doing the diagnosing you typically end up dead or with an incurable disease, but she is always your first call. If nothing else, the hypochondria-induced hysteria is usually enough to get you to a real doctor.

7. You’ve cried together.

Happy and sad tears, you’ve shared them all.

8. You can tell her the things you know you shouldn’t say out loud.

There is no safer, judgment-free zone than when you are with her.

9. You know each other’s menstrual cycles and can tell when her period is about to start before she can.

Most of the time you are going through it together. Outsiders beware.

10. You know all about her family.

Everything from the fight she had with her mom last weekend to the outfit her crazy uncle wore to Thanksgiving. You’ve got all the deets.

11. She ends up in every conversation you have even if she isn’t there, or the people you’re talking to don’t know her.

She is such an integral part of your life, you think she is the most brilliant person you know, and the funniest, of course you are going to be talking about her.

12. You know when you need to say you’re sorry – and she readily accepts your apologies.

If you spend all your time with someone you will inevitably mess up at some point. You didn’t mean to and she knows that. The acknowledgment of your mistakes only brings you closer together.

13. You give each other the benefit of the doubt.

You know her well enough to assume the best of her. And if you’re wrong, see number 12, apology accepted.

14. She knows about your sex life, or lack thereof.

There are so many benefits to talking about your sex life with your girlfriends. There is no one you are more comfortable talking to than her.

15. You fart in front of each other.

You know it is a lifetime friendship the moment you settle down on the couch for a gossip sesh and she lets one rip, dangerously close to your face, and then promptly collapses into a pile of uncontrollable laughter.

16. She eats the food off your plate without asking.

“Yes, of course, please help yourself. I wasn’t going to finish that biscuit I was currently eating anyway.” It’s a miracle she hasn’t lost a finger yet.

17. You have gone pee while talking on the phone with her. Bonus points if it’s on Facetime.

You have probably peed in front of her in real life, but somehow this seems to be an extra level of comfort you share.

18. If she hates someone, you hate them too.

Obviously, there could be exception to this rule because you are your own people and make your own judgments – but probably not. You are the ultimate ride-or-die pair.

19. You watch all the same shows and discuss the characters like you know them in real life.

This is especially true for reality television. It is not unusual to spent 30 minutes to an hour discussing the intricacies of various relationships on the shows and your personal feelings toward all of the cast members.

20. She married you!

Your spouse knew it was a package deal from day one, but I bet they never imagined all three of you would be at the altar one day. When you found out there was an alternative to having your ceremony performed by traditional clergy or a judge, you knew exactly who you wanted by your side making your other favorite relationship official.

21. You literally never run out of things to talk about.

Raise your hand if you have talked on the phone the entire way over to her house just so you could keep talking upon arrival.

22. You might die without FaceTime.

Long distance besties know that if you can’t be with her, seeing her perfect face over the phone is the next best thing.

23. A day doesn’t go by without some form of communication.

Text, SnapChat, Gchat, Phone, Facetime, Instagram, Facebook, you use them all to stay in touch – sometimes simultaneously.

24. Everyone understands that any secret shared with you is also shared with her.

It may be an unspoken rule, but people get used to it eventually.

25. Your parents claim her as another one of their children – possibly their favorite child.

She comes up in conversation with your parents as casually as any of your siblings. They cheer her on and brag about her on Facebook to their friends. She is officially a part of your family, and you are okay with that.

26. You dream of growing old together and the day you get to move back in together.

In this narrative, you both outlive your partners and spend the rest of your old, old lady lives together acting as ridiculous as ever.

27. You know her favorite, everything.

You are sure the two of you would crush one of those “newlywed” shows if ever they would give you chance.

28. You have so many inside jokes entire conversations can become unintelligible to outsiders.

The world is a dark, scary place inside jokes make it so much more bearable.

29. You have a matching best friend tattoo.

You made your BFF status official with a permanent matching reminder of your lifelong bond. It is like carrying her with you everywhere you go.

30. When you drink together it is always a good time.

You won’t be found fighting or hating on each other. Instead, she is the most beautiful, hilarious, magical unicorn you have ever seen, and the whole world revolves around the two of you.

31. You can tell her hard truths and trust her to do the same, always with love.

We all need someone in our lives that can help keep us grounded, healthy, and safe. She is that person and does it without judging or scolding you.

32. You know she has your best interest in mind.

Whether it is her opinion on your new crush or the job you want to quit, you take her advice seriously because you trust she only wants the best for you.

33. She is the one your significant others should really be afraid of.

The image of a father sitting on the front porch with a gun waiting for his daughter to bring around her new love interest is played out. Setting aside how outdated that is, the person your SO should actually be concerned about is your BFF. We’ve all heard the Dixie Chicks sing about how Earl had to die – that’s the realness.

34. You will rub her feet or scratch her head.

Is there truer love? I think not.

35. You feel like superwoman knowing she has your back.

You walk with your head higher, your strut a little saucier, and your words stronger with her by your side. You know you are never alone, and that is so empowering.

Make sure to tell your bestie all the reasons you want her in your life forever.
